Jon Epstein, 46, of Duluth lost his determined yearlong fight against cancer Sunday, Feb. 4, 2001, in St. Mary's Medical Center.

He will remembered most for his quirky sense of humor, enjoyment of reading and crocheting and devotion to running.

Jon was preceded in death by his father, Joseph; and younger brother Joel.

He is survived by his mother, Nancy; sisters Jean Epstein and Joan Johnson; brothers Jan, Jeff and Jerome; nieces Sarah Gamblain and Becky Epstein; his friends, co-workers and residents of St. Anne's Residence, where he had been employed since 1990.

Gathering of family and friends: 45 minutes before the 3 p.m. memorial service today in Lincoln Park Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to St. Anne's Residence, Duluth, or Dollars for Scholars in Grantsburg High School, Grantsburg, Wis.
